PRE-SUMMIT 2025
Pre-Summit 2025 was an impactful three-day program held just before the Youth Forum 2025, funded by the US Embassy Colombo. The event took place in Batticaloa, Sri Lanka, and brought together 75 participants from five regions—Colombo, Matara, Kandy, Jaffna, and Batticaloa—representing the American Corners in each area. This diverse group created a dynamic environment for learning, cultural exchange, and personal growth.
On the first day, participants engaged in a community project at a low-income school in Batticaloa, where they worked on various initiatives to support the school and its students. Following the community project, a series of workshops focused on building leadership skills, enhancing teamwork, and developing personal confidence. Day two featured a lively cultural night, where participants showcased their unique traditions and experiences, fostering deeper cross-cultural understanding. It also included group presentations and a virtual meeting with regional participants from five different countries, offering broader global perspectives. On the final day, participants had the unique opportunity to meet with US officials, gaining valuable insights into diplomacy and international relations.
Throughout the event, participants not only gained leadership skills and confidence but also developed a stronger sense of cultural awareness by collaborating with peers from diverse backgrounds. The pre-summit experience was a valuable opportunity for personal and professional growth, empowering the participants with knowledge and skills to carry forward.
