Future Bridge: Empowering Young Dreams, One Child at a Time

Future Bridge is a heartfelt initiative by WTW Lanka, designed to support underprivileged children across Sri Lanka who are at risk of dropping out of school due to financial hardship. At WTW Lanka, we believe that every child deserves not only access to education, but also the opportunity to dream, grow, and thrive. Through this program, we aim to provide both financial and emotional support to students from low-income families — especially those preparing for their crucial Ordinary Level (O/L) examinations.

Many of these children live with enormous responsibilities at home. Some are caregivers to younger siblings; others take on part-time work to support their families. Despite these challenges, they remain dedicated and hopeful about their education. Future Bridge steps in to help these young individuals stay in school and focus on their future.

The program runs for an initial six-month period and supports 100 students from Grade 6 and above. Each child receives $20 USD per month, which covers essential educational costs such as tuition fees, exam fees, transportation, school supplies, and books. Students are selected through a careful vetting process involving local schools, village officers, and community leaders — prioritizing those who demonstrate both need and commitment.

To ensure continuity and fairness for the children, we require all sponsors to make a one-time donation covering the full six months ($120 USD per child) at the beginning of the sponsorship. This approach ensures that each child receives consistent support without interruption, while also easing the burden of monthly follow-ups and potential drop-offs. WTW Lanka will carefully track and manage the funds on behalf of the child throughout the sponsorship period.

Sponsors — whether individuals, families, or corporate partners — are introduced (virtually or in person) to the child they are supporting through a secure and guided session. While direct ongoing communication is not permitted to ensure child safety and privacy, sponsors receive regular updates including progress reports, teacher feedback, and optional messages or creative work from the child.

One of the most powerful aspects of Future Bridge is its transparency: 100% of every dollar goes directly to the child. WTW Lanka manages and monitors all funds and absorbs all administrative costs through separate fundraising efforts, ensuring that every contribution is used where it’s needed most.

The goals of Future Bridge are clear — to reduce school dropout rates, improve academic outcomes, and help children develop the skills and confidence they need to become self-reliant and successful. As these students move forward, they carry not only knowledge, but the belief that someone cared enough to invest in their potential.

This pilot program is only the beginning. Based on its success, WTW Lanka plans to expand Future Bridge to more regions, introduce scholarships for A/L students, and create long-term mentorship opportunities. Sponsors may also choose to continue supporting the same child beyond the initial six months, forming deeper and more lasting connections.
